Today we are featuring Donna W. and Megan M., two of our newest and first Assistant Controllers. Both Donna and Megan began their journeys at ADC as Accounting specialists and worked their way up to the Senior Accounting Specialist positions before taking on the new challenges as Assistant Controllers.

The journey is not an easy one as an initial entry exam during the hiring process and a Sr. Accounting Specialist exam is required to make the jump.

This is one way that AccountingDepartment.com ensures its Accounting Specialists are some of the top qualified candidates for the positions they hold. And with these exams under Donna and Megan's belts, it proved that they were highly qualified to apply for the Assistant Controller position.

Why AccountingDepartment.com?

Donna has been with AccountingDepartment.com for 2 years now and originally was drawn to ADC because she was looking for something that offered remote work and gave her the opportunity to move wherever she wanted, while still having a job.

Two months after starting at ADC, she fulfilled a long-time dream of moving closer to the beach! On top of the flexibility, Donna has been continuously impressed by the training, processes, and procedures in place to help ADC employees succeed in their positions and move up within the company to the Assistant Controller position.

ADC truly cares about the well-being of its employees.

Megan has been with AccountingDepartment.com for 3 years and used to have to battle a commute that was over an hour each way. Missing so much time with her daughter, due to the commute, was the main driver in searching for a fully remote, W2 career opportunity that ultimately led to this Assistant Controller position.

The remote workplace, true work-life balance, and strong company culture that comes from the top down are just some of the things that keep her here at ADC, along with the new experiences that will come from being an Assistant Controller.

The New Assistant Controller Position

As ADC grew, there was a demand for more positions within the company. The Assistant Controller position was created to bridge the gap between Accounting Specialist and Controller positions.

Committees were created internally that Donna was a part of to provide some insight and input toward the tasks that the new positions would be responsible for. The Assistant Controller job description was created by ADC employees and not by one sole person.

This process is unique as most companies do not have employees play such a large role in creating new positions.

Being a part of the committee had Donna feeling even more excited than before to apply for the new position.

Knowing that they had the support of ADC to succeed, Donna and Megan were motivated to apply for the new positions because it gives them the opportunity to learn new things and take on new challenges.

The Best Part About It

One of Donna's favorite features of her new Assistant Controller position is that she now has the opportunity to still expand her professional knowledge after 30 years of experience in the accounting industry. She will also now be able to further assist the controller team with various tasks and projects.

Megan is most excited to be exposed to so many different types of clients and businesses along with now having a more project-driven workload. It gives her the opportunity to focus on the big picture of a client's business, rather than being more data entry focused, like her previous Accounting Specialist position.

Donna and Megan both saw the potential to grow within AccountingDepartment.com and worked hard to make it to where they are now in the new Assistant Controller positions.

AccountingDepartment.com is dedicated to growing and evolving the positions within the company and it continues to rapidly grow.

In all aspects of the business, ADC has trained professionals to best serve its clients and provide the best results possible.
