Thought Leadership from the Leaders in Virtual Accounting and Bookkeeping Services

Giving Thanks at AccountingDepartment.com

giving-thanks

Every year during the holiday season we reflect on all that the past year has brought. From excellent staff new and tenured to wonderful clients, company events and national awards, we always have so much to be thankful for. This year is no exception and may in fact be our most thankful year yet. In no particular order, the following are just a few of the many, many reasons we are especially thankful this Thanksgiving.

An Accounting Team Like No Other

It is pretty rare to find perfection in a company--and while we cannot swear perfection, we do strive for it. And with a team handpicked from the best the country has to offer, we can't help but be incredibly thankful for the opportunity to assemble the best accounting services team around.

From Virtual to Chicago, Company Events Bring Us Together

We are so lucky to not only work with a top-notch virtual team but to enjoy working (and socializing) with everyone as well. This year we had the opportunity to fly tenured staff and management to Chicago for a first annual anniversary party. Many of our staff met for the first time--and we had a blast celebrating on the town together!

In addition, we incorporated a new way of having staff meetings to include more video time and encourage better interaction. Our private Facebook group saw plenty of updates and excitement among our staff members, from engagements to births to attaining advanced degrees. With a team comprised of many working parents, you'll never find a better collection of cute baby and child photos anywhere else!

Getting Healthy One ADC Mile At A Time

Co-Founder Dennis Najjar single-handedly inspired many of our employees to lace up their sneakers and take to the streets. Over the summer we were challenged (and successfully rose to meet the challenge) to walk 150 miles each. Promoting fitness and good health in the workplace is important to having healthy, happy staff--and we're making sure the virtual workplace is no different.

Plus Some Healthy Competition on the Fantasy Field

trophy

Whether you're cheering "Roll Tide" with Kris Merritt or betting Andrew Luck will have a 40 point game, AccountingDepartment.com staff love their fantasy football. We have two very active groups, one for college picks and another for fantasy football. There isn't any money involved--just good old-fashioned fun, a little rivalry and banter, and of course a trophy too.

And The Winner Is...

AccountingDepartment.com Owners

This year we were the proud recipients of three prestigious Stevie Awards. We celebrated at awards ceremonies in Chicago and New York and luckily brought our directors and spouses together to enjoy the limelight of their achievements.

  • 2014 Gold Stevie Award winner for Company of the Year – Professional Services
  • 2014 Silver Stevie Award, Women in Business winner for Company of the Year -- Business Services, More Than 10 Employees
  • 2014 Bronze Stevie Award, Women in Business winner for Female Executive of the Year -- Business Services, 11 to 2,500 Employees

Hanging Out With Our Industry Friends

les-mckeown

We were so thankful to participate in industry events including Intuit's QB Connect show, Scaling New Heights and Solutions 14 with the Sleeter Group. Either Bill or Dennis presented on panels at each of these three shows, helping to further education and innovation in our industry. In addition we were lucky to meet up with many of our partners and friends from accounting technology companies including Bill.com, Tallie, TSheets and Unanet. (We even got to play cornhole at Inc 5000 with Unanet--unfortunately we lost the game but we're waiting for a rematch!).

The truth is we could go on and on with things that we're thankful for--but we recognize at some point we have to end the blog post! So until next year, we give thanks for everything we have been lucky to have this year... including our readers, YOU!
